I’m Rachel - an illustrator originally from Hull in the UK, now based in Brittany, France. I work primarily in mixed-media — paint, pencil, pen and collage. I sometimes create artworks from papier-mâché and other materials too. I’m interested in creating images and scenes that evoke a sense of story, emotion and atmosphere - whether whimsical, playful or wistful. My intention is to blend reality and fantasy and create illustrations shaped as much by memory and imagination as by the visible and tangible.

When I’m not in my studio, I enjoy spending time with loved ones, walking my special studio assistant Ziggy, running, photographing the world around me and playing the cello in my local orchestra.

Much of my inspiration comes from everyday experiences, relationships, memory, dreams and the little magic found in ordinary moments.
